Explore breathtaking attractions including the famous Momella Lakes, Ngurdoto Crater, dense montane forests, and the magnificent slopes of Mount Meru. After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to Machame Gate, the starting point of your Mount Kilimanjaro climb. This marks the beginning of your incredible ascent through one of the world’s most famous trekking routes.
The trail starts within the lush Kilimanjaro rainforest zone, where towering camphor trees, ancient fig trees, tropical vegetation, and mist-covered pathways create a magical trekking atmosphere. The forest is alive with birdsong and occasional sightings of colobus monkeys and blue monkeys, making this section both scenic and immersive.

The trek takes approximately 5 to 6 hours, leading you to the spectacular Shira Plateau, one of the most scenic points on Mount Kilimanjaro. Along the way, admire giant lobelias, giant groundsels, volcanic formations, and panoramic views stretching across northern Tanzania.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Today begins with the exhilarating ascent of the world-famous Great Barranco Wall, one of the most exciting and iconic sections of the Machame Route. Despite its intimidating appearance, it is a safe and thrilling climb guided expertly by the Joyful Safaris and Tours mountain team.
After reaching the top, enjoy magnificent views of glaciers, valleys, and volcanic ridges before continuing toward Karanga Camp (3,930m). This extra acclimatization day is one of the key reasons our summit success rates remain exceptionally high.

Today’s trek takes you into the high alpine desert zone toward Barafu Camp (4,600m), the final base camp before summit night. The terrain becomes more rugged and dramatic, offering expansive views across the mountain and surrounding plains.
Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and rest while your guide assists you in preparing summit gear, warm layers, and safety equipment for the midnight ascent.
Early rest is essential as the most challenging and rewarding stage of the trek begins shortly after midnight.

Mweka
Summit Day – Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
This is the most unforgettable day of your Mount Kilimanjaro adventure. Starting around midnight, you will begin your final ascent under a sky filled with stars.
After approximately 6 to 7 hours of steady climbing, you will reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa and one of the world’s greatest trekking achievements.
Standing at the summit, watching the sunrise above the clouds and glaciers, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that defines luxury adventure travel in Tanzania.
After celebrating and taking photographs, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing down to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for your final mountain overnight stay.
